St. Matthew 12

12:1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and His disciples [Students] were an hungred, [They were hungry] and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.

2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto Him, Behold, [Look] thy [Your] disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

[What the Pharisees said was not true as you will see later.]

3 But He [Jesus] said unto [To] them, Have ye [You] not read what David did, when he was an hungred, [When he was Hungry.] and they that were with him;

[It is written of in 1 Samuel 21:1-6.]

4 How he [David] entered into the house of God, [Yahveh] and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

[Shewbread is Holy bread placed in the sanctuary of the Tabernacle or Temple every Sabbath to symbolize Yahveh’s [God’s] presence and His provision for His people. The ritual always involved 12 loaves of bread, representing the 12 tribes of the nation of Israel.]

5 Or have ye [You] not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane [Desecrate] the sabbath, and are blameless?

[A priest can eat on the Sabbath.]

[All priest’s work on the Sabbath because it is their duty to Yahveh.]

6 But I [Jesus Christ] say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

[Jesus Christ, Yahveh [God] was with them in a flesh body. He is greater then all things.]

7 But if ye [You] had known what this meaneth, [Means] I will have mercy, [Compassion] and not sacrifice, ye [you] would not have condemned [Pronounced guilty] the guiltless.

[In other words if you knew I am Jesus Christ/Yahveh, and what I really wanted from you is love you wouldn’t have pronounced us guilty.]

[In Hosea 6:6 Yahveh [God] tells us what He wants from us. Let’s go there.]

Hosea 6:6

6 For I desired mercy, [Compassion] and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God [Yahveh] more than burnt offerings.

[Yahveh [God] wants you to know Him and love Him; He is your Father.]

[Let’s return to St. Matthew 12:8.]

8 For the Son of man is Lord [Supreme in authority, controller] even of the sabbath day.

[When Jesus Christ died on the cross He became our Sabbath. [Sabbath meaning rest.] Jesus Christ is the only place you can find rest in this world. We rest in Him every day. If you rest in Jesus Christ He will give you peace of mind.]

[Let’s go to Hebrews chapter four where Paul the author of about two thirds of the New Testament for Yahveh/Jesus Christ tells us about entering into Yahveh’s/Jesus Christ’s rest.]

Hebrews 4

4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His [Yahveh’s] rest, [Eternal life with our Father] any of you should seem to come short of it.

[Short of his rest, short of eternal life with our Father.]

2 For unto [To] us was the gospel preached, [Taught, we heard the Gospel, the good news about Jesus Christ.] as well as unto [To] them: but the word preached did not profit them, [They would not listen] not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

[They didn’t have the faith to believe the word.]

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, [Live with our Father Yahveh [God] in Heaven.] as He said, As I have sworn in My wrath, [Anger] if they shall enter into My rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

[The word foundation meaning before the fall of satan. Yahveh [God] had a plan of salvation before the destruction of satan.]

4 For He spake in a certain place of the seventh day on [In] this wise, [Way] And God [Yahveh] did rest the seventh day from all His works.

[As written in 2 Peter 3:6&7 one day with the Lord is as a thousand years with man. The Lords day is a thousand year period starting with the return of Jesus Christ. It is called the millennium age. This is the seventh dispensation of time, seven thousand years. Adam was created 6000 -7000 years ago.

5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into My rest. [Abide with Me; stay with Me spiritually.]

[The IF meaning He will not force you to enter into His rest, it is your choice. Yahveh/Jesus Christ’s rest is not one day. In Colossians Chapter 2 Paul explains how the Sabbath was nailed to the cross with Jesus Christ. He became our rest, and we rest in Him, [Abide in, stay with Him] spiritually every day, not on any particular day of the week.]

6 Seeing therefore it remaineth [Remains] that some must enter therein, [Those that believe and do the will of Yahveh [God] will enter in.] and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

[They didn’t believe the word of Yahveh.]

7 Again, He [Yahveh] limiteth [Limited] a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye [You] will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.

[Don’t turn away from you Father Yahveh.]

8 For if Jesus [The word Jesus here should have been translated Joshua. Joshua carried the Israelite’s into the Promised Land after Moses died. You can Check out Joshua in Chapter one.] had given them rest, then would he [He would] not afterward have spoken of another day.

[Joshua’s rest was a foreshadow of things to come, he did not give them a permanent rest; Jesus Christ has.]

[You can enter into that rest today by putting Yahveh [God] first in your life by sincerely doing His will. His will is for you to learn and become a doer of His word. That is not to say we are perfect because we are not perfect in our flesh bodies, which is why Jesus Christ gave us a new commandment in the New Testament. The new commandment is to repent of our sins, and ask Yahveh [God] for forgiveness in His name. By repenting and asking forgiveness in His name we are washed clean by the blood He shed on the cross for us, making us acceptable to Him unto eternal life.]

9 There remaineth [Remains] therefore a rest to the people of God.

[We rest in Jesus Christ; we abide in Him spiritually every day.]

10 For he [Man or woman] that is entered into His [Jesus Christ’s] rest, [Sabbath, we rest in Him every day of the week.] he [Man and woman] also hath [Has] ceased from his [Or her] own works, as God [Yahveh] did from His.

[We cease from our works of only thinking of the world and put our faith in Jesus Christ and work for Him, doing His will. This is not saying that we quit working to make a living. As written in 1 Thessalonians 5:5-10 we rest in Jesus Christ continually. Let’s go there.]

1 Thessalonians 5

5 Ye [You] are all the children of light, [Children of Jesus Christ, children of the word of Yahveh.] We are not of the night or the darkness.

[We won’t be overtaken by satan or his evil spirits because we know the word of Yahveh.]

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; [They are spiritually dead.] but let us watch and be sober. [Sincere]

7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; [satan’s work takes place in the night.] and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

[They don’t know what Yahveh’s [God’s] plan is. They are in a stupor as to what is going on concerning what Yahveh’s [God’s] plan is, and what is in store for them.]

8 But let us, who are of the day, [The light, Jesus Christ] be sober, [Sincere] putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. [Eternal life]

[In verse eight Paul is talking about the Gospel armor of Ephesians Chapter 6.]

9 For God [Yahveh] hath [Has] not appointed us to wrath, [Anger] [He is not going to hurt us.] but to obtain salvation [Eternal life] by our Lord Jesus Christ,

[Not by the anti-Christ satan of the sixth trump. There is no eternal life thru the anti [Instead of] Christ satan who appears at the sixth trump. satan appears first; our Lord Jesus Christ appears at the seventh trump five months after satan. Don’t be deceived into believing satan is Jesus Christ.]

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake [Are alive] or sleep, [Sleep meaning our flesh bodies have died.] we should live together with him. [In Heaven]

[Also as written in Colossians 2:16&17, Let therefore let no man judge you in meat [Food] or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, [The Feast of Tabernacles and The Feast of Unleavened Bread.] or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days; Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.]

[Let no man or woman judge you of these things because Jesus Christ nailed those things to the cross, He became those things.]

[You either rest in Jesus Christ or not. He became our sabbath when He died on the cross for us. We rest in Jesus Christ all day, every day of the week. This doesn’t mean we have to go to church everyday. The Feast of Tabernacles was the Passover feast. Jesus became our Passover as written in 1 Corinthians 5:6&7. He is the reason the death angel [satan] must pass over true Christians.]

[Let’s return to Hebrews 4:11.]

11 Let us labour [Work] therefore to enter into that rest, [Work to understand the word of Yahveh so that you can enter into His rest.] lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

[The example of those that fell in the wilderness in Chapter 3 verses 16, 17, and 18.]

[Let’s return to St. Matthew 12:9.]

9 And when He [Jesus Christ] was departed thence, [Departed from there, from the corn field] He went into their [The Pharisees] synagogue: [Church]

[Jesus Christ walked right into their church. They didn’t worry or scare Him one bit.]

10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked Him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse Him. [Charge Him with an offense.]

[They hoped He would say it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath days so they could condemn Him with their law.]

[Verse eleven is His answer to them.]

11 And He said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well [Good] on the sabbath days.

[It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.]

[Sheep are symbolic of people. Yahveh’s [God’s] Priest’s and people work on sabbath days. The traditions of men and some church systems miss where the true rest is.]

13 Then saith [Said] He to the man, Stretch forth thine [Your] hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

[Jesus Christ didn’t touch the man. He said stretch forth your hand and the man was healed.]

[The Pharisees are trying to come up with a reason the kill Him but He is in control and they don’t scare Him one bit.]

14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against Him, how they might destroy [Kill] Him.

[Pharisees are enemies of Yahveh [God] because they are doctors of their law that try to make void the word of Yahveh [God] by their traditions and irrelevant holy days and holidays.]

15 But when Jesus knew it, [He could read their minds.] He withdrew Himself from thence: [From their Church.] and great multitudes [Crowds of people] followed Him, and He healed them all;

[When Jesus Christ walked out of their church all the people in the church followed Him. The Pharisees were not happy.]

16 And charged them that they should not make Him known:

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias [Isaiah] the prophet, saying,

[It was spoken in Isaiah 42:1.]

18 Behold My servant, whom I [Yahveh] have chosen; My beloved, in whom My soul is well pleased: I will put My spirit upon Him, and He shall shew [Show] judgment to the Gentiles.

19 He shall not strive, [Not strive meaning He is not going to make a big noise in the street.] nor cry; [Cry out] neither shall any man hear His voice in the streets.

[In other words He is going to be very gentle.]

20 A bruised reed shall He not break, [A bruised reed is very fragile, it doesn’t take much to break it. In other words if your life is like the bruised reed Jesus Christ will not break it. He will strengthen you if you will let Him.] and smoking flax [Smoking flax is a wick of a lamp that is burned down and about to go out.] shall He not quench, [In other words although your life may be almost gone to the ways of the world, and you are becoming lost He can touch your heart and guide you without putting out the little light you have and bring you back to a full flame as a witness to Yahveh.] till He send forth judgment unto victory.

[Yahveh’s [God’s] word is truth. People will be judged and justified by His word. Jesus Christ will have the victory.]

21 And in His name shall the Gentiles trust.

[As it is written in St. Luke 2:32 Jesus Christ is the light to the Gentiles.]

[On the first day Jesus Christ returns to earth every knee will bow to Him.]
