Luke 18
18:1 And He [Jesus Christ] spake a parable unto [To] them [To the Pharisees] to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
[In other words continue to pray, don’t give up.]
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
[The judge didn’t care about Yahveh [God] or man; he didn’t have any respect for Yahveh or mankind.]
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto [To] him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
[In other words retaliate and punish my opponent.]
4 And he would not for a while: [He was holding back] but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
[He thought to himself I’m not afraid of Yahveh [God] or man.]
5 Yet because this widow troubleth [Troubles] me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
[The judge finally gave the woman what she desired because she was persistent.
In other words Jesus Christ is saying don’t give up praying.]
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. [See what he said.]
7 And shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto [To] Him, [In prayer] though He bear long with them?
[In other words Yahveh [God] will retaliate and punish those who have harmed and harm His elect. Yahveh [God] has lots of patience, but it may take some time.]
8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. [He will avenge His elect when He’s ready, when He returns at the beginning of the millennium.] Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, [When He returns to earth.] shall He find faith on the earth?
[In other words will Jesus Christ find people with faith in the true messiah; people waiting for Him? People not deceived by the anti [Instead of] Christ satan.]
[Jesus Christ’s elect are people who put Him first in their lives by learning and becoming doers of His word. They will be here waiting for Him to appear. They won’t be deceived by satan because they know Yahveh’s [God’s] word.]
9 And He spake this parable unto [To] certain [Some people] which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
[The people that trusted in themselves were self righteous hypocrites, people who go to church and despise others because they are not goody goody like they are.]
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, [The Pharisee was a so called religious man.] and the other a publican.
[A publican is a tax collector.]
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank Thee, [You] that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
[In other words I’m glad I’m not like they are.]
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes [A tenth] of all that I possess.
[In other words I abstain from eating food twice a week and I give the church one tenth of all I possess.]
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto [To] heaven, [He was humble] but smote [Beat] upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
[The publican was repenting for his sins. We are all sinners so let this be a lesson to you.]
14 I [Jesus Christ] tell you, this man went down to his house justified [Justified meaning judged innocent, righteous. Yahveh [God] forgave him for his sins.] rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself [Lifts himself or herself up to be better then other people.] shall be abased; [Abased meaning made humble.] and he that humbleth [Humbles] himself [Or herself] shall be exalted.
[Exalted meaning lifted up by Yahveh.]
15 And they brought unto [To]Him [Jesus] also infants, that He would touch them: but when His disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
[In other words the disciples told the people who were bringing the infants to Jesus to keep them away from Him.]
16 But Jesus called them [His disciples] unto [To] Him, and said, Suffer [Allow] little children to come unto [To] Me, and forbid them not: [In other words let them come to Me.] for of such [Children] is the kingdom of God.
[We are all little children when it comes to Yahveh’s [God’s] kingdom.]
17 Verily [Truly] I say unto [To] you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise [Not at all] enter therein. [Enter into Yahveh’s [God’s] kingdom.]
[We are all little children in learning the word of Yahveh.]
18 And a certain ruler asked Him, [Asked Jesus Christ] saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto [To] him, Why callest thou Me good? [Why do you call Me good?] none is good, save one, that is, God.
[We are all sinners in one way or another.]
20 Thou [You] knowest [Know] the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, [Kill meaning do not commit 1st degree murder] Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy [Your] father and thy [Your] mother.
[As it is written in 1 John 3:15 no murderer hath [Has] eternal life abiding in him, meaning there is no way in a flesh body a murderer can find salvation. He or she has to take it up with Yahveh after his or her flesh body dies and they go into their spiritual body.]
[Honor thy [Your] father and thy [Your] mother is a commandment given with a promise. As written in Exodus 20:12, Honor thy [Your] father and thy [Your] mother: that thy [Your] days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy [Your] God giveth [Gives] thee. [You]
21 And he [The certain ruler] said, All these [Commandments] have I kept from my youth up.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, He said unto [To] him, Yet lackest thou [You lack] one thing: sell all that thou [You] hast, [Have] and distribute unto the poor, and thou [You] shalt [Shall] have treasure in heaven: and come, follow Me.
[The 10th commandment is thou [You] shalt [Shall] not covet so don’t covet [Desire] your neighbor’s property. Evidently the man had been coveting other people’s property.]
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
[He had ill-gotten gains he had gotten without the blessings of Yahveh.]
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, He said, How hardly shall they that have riches [Riches from ill-gotten gains.] enter into the kingdom of God!
[It’s okay to be rich if you do it Yahveh’s [God’s] way with His blessings.]
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
[Jesus Christ is talking about the needle gate in Jerusalem. It was small, so small a camel had to be unpacked before it could go thru the needle gate. A rich man [Rich from ill-gotten gains] must get rid of his ill gotten gains before he can enter into Yahveh’s [God’s] kingdom.]
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
27 And He [Jesus Christ] said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
[In other words Yahveh [God] will save whomsoever He will. Don’t worry about it, turn it over to Yahveh.]
28 Then Peter said, Lo, [See] we have left all, and followed thee. [You]
29 And He [Jesus] said unto [To] them, Verily [Truly] I say unto [To] you, There is no man [Or woman] that hath [Has] left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,
30 Who shall not receive manifold more [Much more] in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. [Eternal life]
[Whosoever puts Jesus Christ first in their life by learning and becoming a doer of His word will receive eternal life and blessings and rewards in Heaven and on earth.]
31 Then He took unto Him the twelve, [Twelve disciples] and said unto [To] them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
