14:1 And it came to pass, [It happened] as He [Jesus Christ] went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread [Dinner] on the sabbath day, that they watched Him.
[They were watching Him because they wanted to entrap Him.]
2 And, behold, there was a certain man before Him which had the dropsy.
3 And Jesus answering spake unto [To] the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
[Jesus knew there is no law written in the word of Yahveh [God] against it.]
4 And they held their peace. [They didn’t say a word] And He [Jesus] took him, and healed him, and let him go;
5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway [Immediately] pull him out on the sabbath day?
[Yahveh’s [God’s] law concerning this is written in Exodus 23:4&5.]
6 And they could not answer Him again to these things.
[They didn’t want to admit they were wrong.]
7 And He [Jesus Christ] put forth a parable to those which were bidden, [Invited to dinner in the house of the chief priest with all the higher ups of the church.] when He marked [Noticed] how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto [To] them,
8 When thou [You] art [Are] bidden [Invited] of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; [The head table] lest a more honourable man than thou [You] be bidden [Invited] of [By] him;
9 And he that bade [Invited] thee [You] and him come and say to thee, [You] Give this man place; [Get up and let this man sit down.] and thou [You] begin with shame to take the lowest room.
10 But when thou [You] art [Are] bidden, [Called] go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade [Invited] thee [You] cometh, [Comes in] he may say unto [To] thee, [You] Friend, go up higher: then shalt [Shall] thou [You] have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat [Dinner] with thee. [You]
[Verse 11 is the reason you sit in the lowest room.]
11 For whosoever exalteth [Honors, lifts himself up] himself shall be abased; [Abased means he or she will be the littlest, lowly] and he [Or she] that humbleth [Humbles] himself [Or herself] shall be exalted. [Raised up, lifted up]
[Jesus Christ did this for us on the cross.]
12 Then said He also to him [The chief priest] that bade [Invited] Him, When thou [You] makest [Make] a dinner or a supper, call not thy [Your] friends, nor thy [Your] brethren, neither thy [Your] kinsmen, nor thy [Your] rich neighbours; lest they also bid [Invite] thee [You] again, and a recompence [Pay back] be made thee. [To you]
[In other words don’t play one upmanship.]
13 But when thou [You] makest [Make] a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
[In other words call the sinners, people who need help in Yahveh’s [God’s] word.]
14 And thou [You] shalt [Shall] be blessed; for they [The poor] cannot recompense [Repay] thee: [You] for thou [You] shalt [Shall] be recompensed [Repaid] at the resurrection of the just.
[In other words when you are resurrected you will be blessed and receive the rewards. Yahveh [God] will reward you then.]
[The word just means righteous. Righteous people are people who do things right according to Yahveh.]
15 And when one of them that sat at meat [Dinner] with Him heard these things, he said unto [To] Him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread [Dinner] in the kingdom of God.
[People [Souls] who eat dinner in the Kingdom of Yahveh [God] will be blessed because they are just, they are His Elect, they are people who put Jesus Christ first in their life by doing His will.]
16 Then said He [Jesus Christ] unto [To] him, A certain man [Yahveh [God] made a great supper, and bade [Invited] many:
17 And sent His servant [Jesus Christ] at supper time to say to them that were bidden, [Invited] Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent [With all manner and means] began to make excuse. The first said unto [To] Him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray [Ask] thee [You] have me excused.
[He was just to busy for Yahveh.]
19 And another said I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: [Prove meaning to test and try them out.] I pray [Ask] Thee [You] have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
[All these people are caught up in worldly things. They didn’t have time for Yahveh.]
21 So that Servant [Jesus Christ] came, and shewed His lord these things. [In other words He showed His Lord they were to busy to come to dinner] Then the master [Yahveh] of the house being angry said to His Servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, [People who have time to walk in righteousness.] and the blind.
[Don’t cull people because they are sinners.]
22 And the Servant said, Lord, it is done as thou [You] hast [Have] commanded, and yet there is room.
[There is room in the Kingdom of Yahveh [God] for everyone.]
23 And the lord said unto [To] the Servant, [Jesus Christ] Go out into the highways and hedges, [Look everywhere] and compel [Force] them to come in, that My house [The Kingdom of Yahveh] may be filled.
[Jesus Christ came to earth to teach the Yahveh’s [God’s] word, and to invite all sinners [We are all sinners.] into His Kingdom. The Kingdom of Yahveh [God] is open to all people who put Yahshua [Jesus Christ] first in their lives by doing His will. Jesus shed His blood on the cross for all mankind so we [as individuals] can repent of our sins and be forgiven if we [as individuals] put Him first in our life and obey Him. Yahveh’s [God’s] commandment in the New Testament is for you repent of your sins and ask Yahveh [God] forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ.]
24 For I say unto [To] you, That none of those men [The ones that didn’t have time for Yahveh.] which were bidden [Invited] shall taste of My supper.
[In other words they will not be at our spiritual wedding feast with Jesus Christ. They were to busy with worldly things; they turned their back to Yahveh.]
[Jesus Christ wants you to be spiritually married to Him. You are invited to the wedding feast. He wants to give you eternal life. Are you going to be there?]
25 And there went great multitudes [Crowds of people] with him: and He turned, and said unto [To] them,
26 If any man [Or woman] come to Me, and hate [The word hate meaning to love less] not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life [Flesh life] also, he cannot be My disciple.
[In other words if you don’t put Jesus Christ first in your life you can not be a student of His, a learner of Yahveh’s [God’s] word. He will not give you eyes to see or ears to hear His word.]
[If you are not given eyes to see and ears to hear Yahveh’s [God’s] word with understanding it is more then likely that you will not be raised up in the first resurrection written of in Revelation 20:4-6. Let’s go there because I want you to know what is going to happen in the future.]
Revelation 20:4-6
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto [To] them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, [They are in a spiritual body now.] and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, [satan] neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, [Brain] [In other words they were not deceived by satan] or in their hands; [In other words they didn’t work for him] and they lived and reigned [Ruled] with Christ a thousand years.
[They will be priests, teachers and judges. They will judge and teach for the 1000 year period between the return of our Lord Jesus Christ and when satan is turned loose for a short season just before The Great White Throne Judgment. There will be discipline taught during that period of time.]
5 But the rest of the dead [The spiritually dead] lived not again until the thousand years were finished. [They are mortal, [Mortal means libel to die.] they will be judged at The Great White Throne Judgment. They will be judged to receive eternal life or to suffer the second death, the death of their soul.] This is the first resurrection.
[The first resurrection is for Yahveh’s [God’s] Elect of verse four; for souls who overcome satan; for souls [People] who put Yahveh [God] first in their lives by doing His will in the earth age we are now in.]
6 Blessed and holy is he [Or she] that hath [Has] part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign [Rule] with him a thousand years.
[Your first death is the death of your flesh body. The instant your flesh body dies you go into your spiritual body. The second death is the death of your spiritual body and your soul. IF you suffer the second death you will cease to exist. IF you are raised up in the first resurrection you will have blessings and rewards in Heaven. IF you are raised up in the second resurrection at The Great White Throne Judgment chances are you will not have blessings and rewards in Heaven.]
[Let’s return to St. Luke chapter fourteen where Jesus Christ is speaking in verse twenty seven.]
27 And whosoever doth [Does] not bear his [Own] cross, [In other words whosoever doesn’t have conviction] and come after Me, [Follow Me] cannot be My disciple.
[Disciple meaning a student of Yahveh’s [God’s] word.]
[IF you don’t follow Jesus Christ and do His will you can not be a student of His word. If you are not a student of His word then you are Biblical illiterate, spiritually dead, and mortal, [Mortal meaning libel to die.] and you are not saved. Jesus Christ has not granted you eternal life.]
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth [Sits] not down first, and counteth [Counts] the cost, whether he have sufficient [Money] to finish it?
[In other words if you intend to serve Yahveh [God] then you had better consider what the cost is going to be to you.]
29 Lest haply, [In order that] after he hath [Has] laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold [Look at] it begin to mock him,
[A person better be able to serve Yahveh [God] diligently. It is a bad happening to turn away from Yahveh [God] after He has given you knowledge in His word.]
30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
[In other words this man was working for Yahveh [God] and learned some of His word then quit.]
31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth [Sits] not down first, and consulteth [Consults] whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh [Comes] against him with twenty thousand?
[Following Jesus Christ is making war against satan; you had better make sure Jesus Christ is with you. There are many more people in the world doing satan’s will and work then the will and work of our Lord Jesus Christ.]
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he [A king] sendeth [Sends] an ambassage, [An ambassador] and desireth [Desires] conditions of peace.
[He does this if he knows he can’t win.]
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh [Forsakes] not all that he hath, [Has] he cannot be My disciple.
[IF you don’t put Jesus Christ first in your life by doing His will you can not be a student of His therefore you can not learn the word of Yahveh [God] and will be spiritually dead. To be spiritually dead is to be empty because the Holy Spirit will not be with you.]
34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, [Flavor, don’t be a wimp] wherewith shall it be seasoned?
[If you know Yahveh [God] it should change things in your life. Don’t be a wimp; be salty; you’d better know how to operate in this world. Be willing and able to stand up and work for our Lord Jesus Christ; be salty.]
35 It [The word of Yahveh] is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; [If the word you put out has lost its flavor.] but men cast [Throw] it out. He that hath ears to hear, [With understanding] let him hear.
[Be salty in the knowledge, wisdom, and patience of Yahveh.]
