Luke 22

22:1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, [Near] which is called the Passover.

[As we are told by Paul in 1 Corinthians 5:6-8 Jesus Christ is our Passover. Let’s go there.]

1 Corinthians 5:6-8

6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye [You] not that a little leaven [Evilness, sin] leaveneth the whole lump?

[In other words a little sin can cause all of you to sin.]

7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, [Evilness, sin] that ye [You] may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. [Without sin] For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:

[Jesus Christ is the reason the death angel satan must pass over you. Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself on the cross for you, so that by repenting of your sins and asking Yahveh [God] for forgiveness in His name He can forgive you if, [This is a big IF] if you put Him first in your life and do His will to the best of your ability. His will is for you to learn and become a doer of His word. I say to the best of your ability because we are not perfect; only Jesus Christ is perfect.]

8 Therefore let us keep the feast, [The Passover feast, the feast of unleavened bread.] not with old leaven, [The old way] neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; [Because it’s a time of beauty.] but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

[Unleavened bread of sincerity and truth is understanding Jesus Christ became the sacrificial lamb slain for us, and when we repent and ask Yahveh [God] forgiveness of our sins in His name we are washed clean of sin.]

[Let’s return to St. Luke 22:2.]

2 And the chief priests [They were appointed by the Roman government not Yahveh.] and scribes [Kenites] sought how they might kill [Murder] Him; for they feared the people.

3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

[Judas was one of the twelve disciples.]

4 And he [Judas] went his way, and communed [Talked] with the chief priests and captains, [Of the so called Levitical priesthood.] how he might betray Him [Jesus Christ] unto [To] them.

5 And they were glad, and covenanted [Agreed] to give him [Judas] money.

6 And he promised, [Judas made a deal with them] and sought opportunity [He was looking for the right time] to betray him [Jesus] unto [To] them in the absence of the multitude.

[Multitude meaning crowd of people.]

7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover [The Passover lamb] must
be killed.

[Following is what the feast of unleavened bread, the Passover feast is all about.]

[As it is written in the book of Exodus Yahveh [God] brought plagues upon Egypt because Pharaoh would not let Yahveh’s [God’s] chosen people the Israelite’s leave his country. They were slaves of Egypt at that time. The last plague brought upon them was the death of all first born children and cattle in Egypt. Because of the plague Yahveh [God] told Moses to tell His people to kill a lamb without blemish and sprinkle its blood on the two side post and the upper door post of their houses and eat the Passover lamb. If they obeyed Him the death angel that would come in the night would pass over them and they would be safe. All of Israel obeyed him and the death angel passed over them. After this last plague which killed all of Egypt’s firstborn Pharaoh let Yahveh’s [God’s] people go. Yahveh [God] put the plagues upon Egypt so people would know He is the Lord, the supreme authority over everything.]

8 And He [Jesus Christ] sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the Passover, that we may eat.

[This is the evening of the Passover.]

9 And they said unto [To] Him, [Jesus] Where wilt [Will] thou [You] that we prepare?
[Where are we going to prepare and eat the Passover?]

10 And He [Jesus] said unto [To] them, Behold, when ye [You] are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth [Enters] in.

[Jesus Christ had it planned.]

11 And ye [You] shall say unto [To] the goodman [Master] of the house, The Master saith [Says] unto [To] thee, [You] Where is the guest chamber, where I shall eat the passover with My disciples?

[Jesus Christ had it prearranged.]

12 And he shall shew [Show] you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

13 And they [Peter and John] went, and found as He [Jesus] had said unto [To] them: and they [Peter and John] made ready the passover.

[In other words Peter and John cooked the Passover lamb.]

14 And when the hour was come, He [Jesus Christ] sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him.

[The word apostle meaning sent one, and an ambassador of the Gospel.]

15 And He [Jesus Christ] said unto [To] them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

[Before He suffers when He is crucified.]

16 For I say unto [To] you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

17 And He [Jesus] took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

18 For I say unto [To] you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

19 And He [Jesus Christ] took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is My body [His body that died on the cross for your sins.] which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me.

[You do this in remembering Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins.]

20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament [Covenant] in My blood, which is shed for you.

[Jesus Christ became the last blood sacrifice. His blood washes away your sins when you repent and are forgiven.]

21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth [Betrays] Me is with Me on the table.

[Jesus knew who would betray Him and exactly what was going to happen, it was written, and it was Yahveh’s [God’s] plan.]

22 And truly the Son of man goeth, [Goes] as it was determined: [It was predetermined, it was His plan.] but woe [Grief] unto that man by whom He is betrayed!

[The crucifixion was prophesized of in Psalms 22 1000 years before it happened. Let’s go there. We are going to cover verses 6-18.]

Psalms 22:6-18

6 But I am a worm, [Scarlet dye] and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

[They spit on Jesus and hit Him.]

7 All they that see Me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, [In other words they open their lips and mocked Jesus] they shake the head saying,

8 He trusted on the LORD that He would deliver Him: let Him deliver Him, seeing He delighted in Him.

[Verse eight is written in St. Matthew 27:43. It was said by the chief priests, scribes and elders. Yahveh [God] was in control of them.]

9 But thou [You] art [Are] He that took me out of the womb: thou [You] didst [Did] make Me hope when I was upon My mother’s breasts. [This was Yahveh [God] directing Jesus Christ.]

10 I was cast upon Thee [You] from the womb: thou [You] art [Are] My God from My mother’s belly.

11 Be not far from Me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

[There was nobody to help Jesus because most all of His disciples deserted Him. If they would have stayed with Him they may have been crucified also. If they would have been crucified there would have been no one to carry on the word of Yahveh.]

12 Many bulls [Enemy’s] have compassed [Surrounded] Me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset Me round.

[The enemy were all around Him.]

13 They gaped upon Me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

[They yelled, shouted and mocked Him.]

14 I am poured out like water, [The liquid from His body has dehydrated.] and all My bones are out of joint: [His bones are out of joint from hanging on the cross.] My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst [Middle] of My bowels. [From within Me.]

15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; [A potsherd is a piece of broken pottery.] and My tongue cleaveth [Cleaves] to My jaws; and thou [You] hast [Have] brought Me into the dust of death.

[Like the end of the day for this flesh body.]

16 For dogs [Enemy’s] have compassed [Surrounded] Me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed [Struck] Me: they pierced My hands and My feet.

[They pierced His hands and feet when they nailed Him to the cross.]

17 I may tell all My bones: they look and stare upon Me.

[In other words people were looking and staring at Him.]

18 They part My garments among them, and cast lots upon My vesture. [Clothing]

[In other words they gambled for His clothing.]

[Let’s return to St. Luke 22:23.]

23 And they [The disciples] began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

[They were wondering which one of them would betray Jesus Christ.]

24 And there was also a strife [A quarrel, a dispute] among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. [The greatest apostle.]

25 And He [Jesus] said unto [To] them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority [Power] upon them are called benefactors.

[In other words because the kings are benefactors they benefit by being in control of the Gentiles.]

26 But ye [You] shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth [Does] serve.

[In other words the greatest is servant of all.]

27 For whether [Which] is greater, he that sitteth at meat, [Dinner] or he that serveth? [Serves dinner]] Is [It is] not he that sitteth at meat? [Dinner] but I am among you as He that serveth. [Serves]

[Jesus served His apostles and serves us through His apostles because they spread His word through the world so He could save us from death.]

28 Ye [You] are they which have continued with Me in My temptations.

[Jesus wants you to serve the people.]

29 And I appoint unto [To] you a kingdom, as My Father hath [Has] appointed unto [To] Me;

[As it is written in Ezekiel 44:28 Yahveh [God] lets it be known He is the inheritance and possession of those who serve Him. People who put Him first in their lives by learning and becoming doers of His word are people who serve Him. Our Father owns everything and will share it with His Elect.]

30 That ye [You] may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, [What an honor!] and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

[This is documented by God in Ezekiel 44:23-25. Let’s go there.]

Ezekiel 44:23-25

23 And they [The Elect] shall teach My people the difference between the holy and profane, [Between the true son of Yahveh [God] and satan.] and cause them to discern [Tell the difference] between the unclean and the clean. [Between false teachings and the Yahveh’s [God’s] word.]

24 And in controversy [If an argument should arise.] they [The Elect] shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to My judgments: [According to Yahveh’s [God’s] law not man’s.] and they shall keep My laws and My statutes in all Mine assemblies; and they shall hallow My sabbaths.

[Yahveh’s [God’s] Sabbaths are Jesus Christ and the days He sets aside. Jesus Christ is our Sabbath. We rest in Him every day.]

25 And they [The Elect] shall come at no dead [Spiritually dead, libel to die person.] person to defile themselves: but for father, or for mother, or for son, or for daughter, for brother, or for sister that hath [Has] had no husband, they may defile themselves.

[In other words the Elect can help their family.]

[A spiritually dead person is a person who doesn’t have the Holy Spirit within them, a person who failed to learn Yahveh’s [God’s] word and never put Yahveh [God] first in their life while alive in a flesh body. All mankind will be in a spiritual body at this time. This is after our Lord Jesus Christ returns to earth.]

[Verse 25 documents that you will know your family during the millennium in your spiritual body. It is my opinion that you will know everybody you knew while you were in your flesh body.]

[Let’s return to St. Luke 22:31.]

31 And the Lord said, [The Lord Jesus Christ said] Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath [Has] desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

[This is because Simon, Simon Peter would establish the first Christian church in Acts chapter one. There would be about 120 members.]
