Luke 3

3:1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign [Rule] of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, [A tetrarch is the ruler of a fourth part of a country.] and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea [Iht you ree ah] and of the region of Trachonitis, [Trat uh nigh tohs] and Lysanias [Lih say nih uas] the tetrarch of Abilene,

2 Annas and Caiaphas [Ky uh fuhs] being the high priests, [Annas and Caiaphas were appointed by the Roman government not Yahveh.] the word of God came unto John [John the Baptist] the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

3 And he [John the Baptist] came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance [Repentance meaning having a change of heart and turning away from a committed sin.] for the remission [Remission meaning Pardon, forgiveness] of sins;

4 As it is written [Written in Isaiah 44:3] in the book of the words of Esaias [Isaiah] the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye [you] the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.

[In other words teach the true word of Yahveh.]

5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

[This won’t happen until our Lord Jesus Christ returns as Lord of lords and King of kings. At that time He will rule with a rod of iron.]

6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. [Yahveh]

[Jesus Christ is the salvation of Yahveh. Only thru Jesus Christ can you have eternal life. He will grant you eternal life IF you obey Him.]

7 Then said he [John the Baptist] to the multitude [Large number of people] that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation [Offspring] of vipers, [Vipers are the offspring of Cain.] who hath [Has] warned you to flee from the wrath [Anger, vengeance and punishment] to come?

[When our Lord Jesus Christ returns He is not going to be happy with people [Souls] who failed to put Him first in their lives by doing His will; people [Souls] that turned their backs to Him and people who are and will be deceived by satan.]

8 Bring forth therefore fruits [Works] worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: [Abraham is known as the father of many nations.] for I say unto [To] you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree [Man or woman] therefore which bringeth [Brings] not forth good fruit [Works] is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

[John the Baptist is talking about the tares of St. Matthew 13:24-32 and 37-43.]

[In most cases trees in the Bible are symbolic of mankind.]

10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

[There are some good people there. They are asking John the Baptist what they need to do to be granted eternal life.]

11 He answereth [Answered] and saith [Said] unto [To] them, He that hath [Has] two coats, let him impart [Give one] to him that hath [Has] none; and he that hath [Has] meat, [Food] let him do likewise.

[In other words if your brother or sister are in need share a little bit with him or her.]

12 Then came also publicans [Tax gatherers, politicians] to be baptized, and said unto [To] him, Master, what shall we do?

13 And he said unto [To] them, Exact no more [Taxes] than that which is appointed you.

[In other words don’t cheat anyone.]

14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto [To] them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

15 And as the people were in expectation, [Waiting] and all men mused [Wondered] in their hearts [Minds] of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet [Strap, tie] of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: [In other words I am not worthy enough to untie the shoes of Jesus Christ.] He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost [Holy Spirit] and with fire: [The fire of truth.]

17 Whose fan is in His hand, [Jesus Christ separates the chaff from the wheat. John is talking about people.] and He will throughly purge His floor, [His thrashing floor] and will gather the wheat [The wheat is symbolic of His Elect, souls [People] that follow and obey Him.] into His garner; [Granary, barn] but the chaff He will burn with fire unquenchable.

[Chaff is symbolic of souls [People] who fail to put Jesus Christ first in their lives by doing His will before The Great White Throne Judgment.]

[After The Great White Throne Judgment, the chaff, [Souls, people] that didn’t obey Jesus Christ before The Great White Throne Judgment takes place will be cast into the lake of fire and suffer the second death. The second death is the death of their soul, they will cease to exist. Your first death is the death of your flesh body. All souls will be in a spiritual body at that time. You go into your spiritual body the instant your flesh body dies, and if you are in a flesh body at the time our Lord Jesus Christ returns you will go instantly into your spiritual body.]

18 And many other things in his exhortation [Calling of the people] preached he [John the Baptist] unto [To] the people.

[John the Baptist had a lot of preaching to do about Jesus Christ and the word of Yahveh.]

19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him [By John the Baptist] for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,

[In other words John the Baptist told Herod that he was wrong and was a sinner because he had taken his brothers wife.]

20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

[In other words because John told Herod he was doing wrong and was a sinner Herod had John the Baptist locked up in prison.]

21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

[John the Baptist baptized Jesus before he was put in prison.]

22 And the Holy Ghost [Spirit] descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, [Upon Jesus Christ] and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou [You] art [Are] My beloved Son; in Thee [You] I am well pleased.

23 And Jesus Himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as it was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph,
25 Which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Amos, which was the son of Naum, which was the son of Esli, which was the son of Nagge,
26 Which was the son of Maath, which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Semei, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Juda,
27 Which was the son of Joanna, which was the son of Rhesa, which was the son of Zorobabel, which was the son of Salathiel, which was the son of Neri,
28 Which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Addi, which was the son of Cosam, which was the son of Elmodam, which was the son of Er,
29 Which was the son of Jose, which was the son of Eliezer, which was the son of Jorim, which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi,
30 Which was the son of Simeon, which was the son of Juda, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Jonan, which was the son of Eliakim,
31 Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, [Bathsheba’s son] which was the son of David,
32 Which was the son of Jesse, which was the son of Obed, which was the son of Booz, which was the son of Salmon, which was the son of Naasson,
33 Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda,
34 Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor,
35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,
36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,
37 Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan,
38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. [Yahveh [God] created Adam.]

[The bloodline [Genealogy] of our Lord Jesus Christ is ure all the way back to Adam and Eve. Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice for sin. He sacrificed Himself on the cross for you sins so you could be forgiven for your sins. He became the last blood sacrifice for one and all times. Without the sacrifice of blood for sin there can be no forgiveness of sin because that’s the way [Yahveh] God wants it.]
