12 Not as Cain, who was of [Out of, the son of] that wicked one, [satan] and slew his brother. [Abel] And wherefore slew he him? [Abel] Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
[In other words Cain murdered Able because he was evil and Abel was righteous. To be righteous is to do things according to what Yahveh [God] would want you to do.]
[Cain was the offspring of Eve and satan from their affair in the Garden of Eden; Jesus Christ was talking to Cain’s offspring in St. John 8:44-47 which we covered in Chapter 2 verse 22 in 1 John. Jesus also talks about the seed of satan [The children of satan] in St. Matthew 13:36-39. Let’s go there.]
St. Matthew 13:36-39
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, [He sent away those that weren’t supposed to hear.] and went into the house: and His disciples [His serious students] came unto [To] Him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37 He [Jesus] answered and said unto [To] them, [He’s not speaking in a parable here.] He that soweth [Sows] the good seed is the Son of man;
[The son of man is Jesus Christ.]
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children [The People, the offspring] of the kingdom; but the tares are the children [The People, the offspring] of the wicked one;
[The wicked one is satan and his offspring are called Kenites.]
39 The enemy that sowed [Planted] them is the devil; [satan planted his offspring as it is written in Genesis Chapter three.] the harvest is the end of the world; [They will be harvested] and the reapers are the angels.
[The angles will take care of it on judgment day; they will separate the wheat from the chaff.]
[Wheat represents the offspring of the kingdom. Chaff represents the offspring of satan.]
[Even the offspring of satan as individuals can be saved if they put Jesus Christ first in their life by doing His will.]
[Let’s go to Genesis chapter three and cover the planting of satan’s seed keeping in mind that trees in the Bible most often represent of people.]
Gen 3:1-13
3:1 Now the serpent [satan] was more subtil [Cunning] than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he [satan] said unto [To] the woman, Yea, hath [Has] God said, Ye [You] shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto [To] the serpent, [satan] We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst [Middle] of the garden, God hath [Has] said, Ye [You] shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch [Lie with it] it, lest ye [You] die.
[The word touch meaning to lay a hand on and to lie with a woman and could be taken both ways like to lie with it.]
4 And the serpent [satan] said unto [To] the woman, Ye [You] shall not surely die:
5 For God doth [Does] know that in the day ye [You] eat [Partake] thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye [You] shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree [satan] was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, [satan was pretty] and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, [Partake] and gave also unto [To] her husband with her; and he did eat. [Partake]
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto [To] him, Where art [Are] thou? [You]
10 And he [Adam] said, I heard thy [Your] voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And He [Yahveh] said, Who told thee [You] that thou [You] wast [Was] naked? Hast [Have] thou [You] eaten of the tree, [satan] whereof I commanded thee [You] that thou [You] shouldest [Should] not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou [You] gavest [Gave] to be with me, she gave me of the tree, [satan] and I did eat.
13 And the LORD God said unto [To] the woman, What is this that thou [You] hast [Have] done? And the woman said, The serpent [satan] beguiled [Seduced] me, and I did eat. [Partake of him.]
[The word beguiled is 5377 in Strong’s Concordance and it means to utterly [Wholly] seduce.]
[Let’s return to 1 John 3:13.]
13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. [This is especially if you teach Yahveh’s [God’s] word.]
14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, [In other words we know that we have eternal life.] because we love the brethren. He that loveth [Loves] not his brother abideth [dwells] in death.
[We need to love our fellow men and women.]
15 Whosoever hateth [Hates] his brother is a murderer: and ye [You] know that no murderer hath [Has] eternal life abiding [Dwelling] in him.
[A murderer is a person who commits first degree murder. There is no way on this earth that a murderer can find salvation. He or she will have to take it up with the Father when they go back to Him when their flesh body dies.]
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to [should] lay down our lives for the brethren.
[Yahveh [God] laid down His life for us on the cross. Jesus Christ was Emmanuel, Yahveh [God] with us in a flesh body.]
[Help your brethren. Help people that are in need whatever their needs may be.]
17 But whoso [Whosoever] hath [Has] this world’s good, [money] and seeth [See’s] his brother [His brother of the same womb or spiritually of the same belief.] have need, and shutteth [Shuts] up his bowels of compassion from him, [In other words he or she doesn’t care and doesn’t help him or her.] how dwelleth [Dwells] the love of God in him?
[You need to have to have compassion for others.]
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; [Let’s not just talk.] but [Let us love] in deed and in truth.
[In other words get out and spread Yahveh’s [God’s] word, plant seeds, and show your love in good deeds and truth. To plant seeds means to plant Yahveh’s [God’s] word in other people so it has a chance to grow.]
19 And hereby [By doing this] we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure [Convince] our hearts before Him. [Before Yahveh]
20 For if our heart [mind] condemn us, [In other words if we find fault within ourselves.] God is greater than our heart, and knoweth [Knows] all things.
[In other words Yahveh [God] knows what is in your mind, and He can intercede and change the way you think.]
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, [In other words if we don’t find fault within ourselves.] then have we confidence toward God.
[Verse twenty one has to do with helping our brother. This doesn’t mean that we should take care of a lazy person.]
[Let’s go to 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15 where Paul gives us instructions concerning our brothers.]
2 Thessalonians 3:6-15
6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye [You] withdraw yourselves from every brother [Christian brother] that walketh [Walks] disorderly, and not after the tradition [Instruction] which he received of us.
[To walk disorderly meaning to walk unarranged, irregularly. A person that’s walks disorderly is a person that uses a verse here and there out of Yahveh’s [God’s] word to suit their purpose.]
7 For yourselves know how ye [You] ought to [Should] follow [Imitate] us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
[In other words we were orderly when we were with you]
8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought [A gift]; but wrought [Worked] with labour and travail [Difficultly] night and day, that we might not be chargeable [a burden] to any of you:
[In other words we worked for our subsistence and didn’t take any of your money.]
9 Not because we have not power, [Power meaningthe right.] but to make ourselves an ensample [Example] unto you to follow us.
[In other words we could have lived off of you but we want you to be like us when taking the word forward.]
[It is my opinion that Paul and the others worked for their subsistence so they would be better accepted and wouldn’t be accused of teaching for money.]
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
[In other words if you don’t work then you don’t eat.]
11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, [Disorderly meaning unarranged, Biblically illiterate.] working not at all, but are busybodies.
[In other words they were putting on an act and going around teaching lies.]
12 Now them that are such [Busybodies] we command and exhort [Call for] by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
[In other words we command that they quietly do the work we commanded them to do and work for their money.]
13 But ye, [You] brethren, be not weary [Discouraged] in well doing.
[Don’t worry about them.]
14 And if any man [Or woman] obey not our word by this epistle, [The word of Yahveh.] note that man, [Or woman] and have no company with him, [Or her] that he [Or she] may be ashamed.
[In other words if any man or woman disobeys the word in this epistle don’t associate with them so that they will be ashamed.]
15 Yet count him [Or her] not as an enemy, but admonish [Warn] him [Or her] as a brother.
[I have used the words her, she, and women in the prior verses because this letter applies to all Christians today.]
[Let’s return to 1 John 3:22.]
22 And whatsoever we ask, [In regards to spreading the word of Yahveh.] we receive of him, [Of Yahveh] because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is His commandment, That we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
[If your brethren won’t work because he or she is lazy don’t help them.]
24 And he that keepeth [Keeps] His [Yahveh’s] commandments dwelleth [Dwells] in Him, [In Yahveh] and He [Yahveh] in him. And hereby we know that He abideth [Dwells] in us, by the Spirit [The Holy Spirit] which He hath [Has] given us.
