1 John 3

3:1 Behold, [You look here] what manner of love the Father [God] hath [Has] bestowed upon [Given] us, that we should be called the sons of God: [The children of Yahveh, the Elect.] therefore the world knoweth [Knows] us not, [The unbelievers don’t know us.] because it knew Him not.

[They didn’t know Jesus Christ either. The ways of the world didn’t know the elect because the elect lived a life for Yahveh/Jesus Christ just as Jesus Christ lived His life doing Yahveh’s [God’s] work.]

[The ways of the world are people running here and there trying to find satisfaction by the material things of this world and ignoring our Lord Jesus Christ. There is nothing wrong with having material things as long as Jesus Christ is first in your life. Without the Holy Spirit you can not have true peace of mind.]

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, [We are the Children of Yahveh, we are in the family.] and it doth [Does] not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, [This we know for sure.] when He [Jesus Christ] shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

[Jesus Christ was 33 years old when He was crucified. It is my opinion we will appear to be 33 years old in our spiritual bodies.]

3 And every man that hath [Has] this hope in Him [In Jesus Christ] purifieth himself, even as He [Jesus Christ] is pure.

[We need to purify ourselves by having a pure mind. We can have a pure mind by loving Jesus Christ and wanting to understand His word, Jesus Christ being that word, and wanting to be part of His family.]

[Keep in mind that we are not perfect. Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross for you so you can repent of your sins and be forgiven, if [The word if makes it conditional.] IF you put Jesus Christ first in your life by doing His will to the best of your ability. One of His commandments is that you repent of your sins and ask Yahveh [God] forgiveness of your sins in His name.]

4 Whosoever committeth [Commits] sin transgresseth [Disobeys] also the law: [The law is Yahveh’s [God’s] law, the Ten Commandments and other laws Yahveh [God] gave us thru Moses.] for sin is the transgression [Disobedience] of the law.

[As you can see the laws written in the Old Testament were not done away with in the New Testament. Jesus Christ Himself tells us they are not done away with in St. Matthew 5:17-19. Let’s go there.]

St. Matthew 5:17

17 Think not that I [Jesus Christ] am [Have] come to destroy [Pull down] the law, or the prophets: [The Old Testament] I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

[Jesus Christ became our Sabbath and our blood sacrifices.]

18 For verily [Truly] I say unto [To] you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot [One jot is the smallest Hebrew letter.] or one tittle [One tittle is the merest ornament.] shall in no wise [Way] pass from the law, [Yahveh’s [God’s] law as written in the Old Testament.] till all be fulfilled.

[In other words the smallest part of any of Yahveh’s [God’s] law will not pass away until all the prophecies written in the Bible are fulfilled.]

[All won’t be fulfilled until Yahveh’s [God’s] plan is complete, and nobody knows Yahveh’s [God’s] complete plan.]

19 Whosoever [Anyone that] therefore shall break one of these least [Shortest] commandments, and shall teach men [Or women] so, he [Or she] shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: [He or she may get to heaven but they will be of little stature there.] but whosoever shall do and teach them, [Teach the laws written in the Old Testament.] the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

[Let’s return to 1 John 3:5.]

5 And ye [You] know that He was manifested [Appeared to us] to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.

[Jesus Christ takes away your sins on repentance because He loves you.]

[Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He paid an awesome price when He shed His blood on the cross for mankind so we could have repentance and forgiveness.]

6 Whosoever abideth [Dwells] in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath [Has] not seen Him, neither known Him. [St. John is talking about the habitual sinner, someone that don’t care about Jesus Christ and has no faith in Jesus Christ. He is not talking about someone who falls short as Paul was talking about himself in Romans 7:14-25. Let’s go there.

Romans 7:14-25

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, [Carnal meaning in the flesh.] sold under sin.

[Paul doesn’t understand his actions at times.]

15 For that which I do I allow not: [In other words I don’t know why I do It.] for what I would, that do I not; [What I should do, I don’t do.] but what I hate, that do I.

[You see even Paul fell short of being perfect. We are all sinners in one way or another.]

16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

[In other words I know that I am bad and the law is good.]

17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth [Dwells] in me.

[The sin dwelled in Paul just as it does in everybody. We are in a flesh body just as Paul was.]

18 For I know that in me [That is, in my flesh,] [You have two spirits] dwelleth no good thing: for to will [Wish] is present with me; [I other words I want to do what is right.] but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

[In other words even against my wishes I do evil at times.]

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth [Dwells] in me.

21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

[In other words sin dwells in the flesh [carnal] body. I try to do right but I do wrong.]

22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward [Inside] man: [In other words in my new self the Spiritual man] I seek and search for the law.]

23 But I see another law in my members, [Parts of my flesh body.] warring against the law of my mind, [In other words my flesh is warring against my Spiritual mind] and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

24 O wretched [Miserable] man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

[The answer is Jesus Christ will deliver you from the body of this death because of sin if, IF you put Him first in your life by doing His will. His will is that you learn and become a doer of His word.]

25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

[In other words we are all sinners]

[Just because the flesh is sinful it doesn’t give us a license to sin. We are to sincerely avoid sinning to the best of our ability.]

[Let’s return to 1 John 3:7.]

7 Little children, let no man [Or woman] deceive you: [If someone tells you something concerning Yahveh’s [God’s] word check him or her out by the word of Yahveh.] he [Or she] that doeth [Does] righteousness is righteous, even as He [Jesus Christ] is righteous.

[Righteousness is the doing of things that are right according to Yahveh.]

[You can tell by what reverends, pastors, and teachers teach if they are teaching Yahveh’s [God’s] word correctly or just play acting. If they read three or for verses out of the Bible on any given day of the week and then ramble on about what they think the scripture means then they are play acting. The Bible is supposed to be taught chapter by chapter, verse by verse, precept upon precept. It is the only way you can learn what is truly written in the Bible.]

8 He [Or she] [Numbers 5:6 documents that women are included.] that committeth sin is of the devil; [This is because the devil is the chief sinner.] for the devil sinneth from the beginning. [The devil satan sinned in the first earth age as it is written in Ezekiel 28:14-19.] For this purpose the Son of God [Jesus Christ] was manifested, [Made known] that He might destroy the works of the devil.

[In other words Yahveh [God] came to earth as Yahshua [Jesus Christ] because of what satan did in the first earth age that was.]

[Doing the works of satan ultimately results in the death of a person’s soul which is the second death. Your first death is the death of your flesh body. The instant your flesh body dies you go into your spiritual body. Jesus Christ came to destroy death which is to say the devil. He wants you to have eternal life.]

9 Whosoever is born of God [John is talking about Jesus Christ the only born son of Yahveh.] doth [Does] not commit sin; for His [Jesus Christ’s] seed remaineth [Remained] in Him: and He cannot sin, because He is born of God.

10 In this [In this righteousness] the children of God are manifest, [made known] and the children of the devil: [They are made known by what they do.] whosoever doeth [Does] not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth [Loves] not his brother.

[This is because they are of satan as written in Genesis 3:15&16. Let’s go there.]

Genesis 3:15&16

[Yahveh [God] is talking to satan. This is after satan deceived and wholly seduced Eve in the Garden of Eden.]

15 And I [God] will put enmity [Hostility and hatred] between thee [satan] and the woman, and between thy [satan’s] seed [satan’s children] and her seed; [Eve’s Children] it shall bruise thy [satan’s] head, [The victory over satan is here.] and thou [You] shalt bruise his heel.

[Jesus Christ’s heels were bruised on the cross.]

[Then Yahveh [God] talks to Eve and because of her sin she is punished.]

16 Unto the woman he [Yahveh] said, I will greatly multiply thy [Your] sorrow and thy [Your] conception; [She had already conceived from satan.] in sorrow thou [You] shalt [Shall] bring forth children; and thy [Your] desire shall be to thy [Your] husband, and he shall rule over thee.

[Let’s return to 1 John 3:11.]

11 For this is the message that ye [You] heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
